After the introduction of new "Cohiba" brand in 1968 it quickly became the leader of cigar industry in Cuba. Initially these cigars were developed as a medium bodied protocol cigar for presentation only by officials of the Cuban government. Since 1982 the overseas supplies have been started. "Cohiba" cigars are produced in several sizes: the Lancero, the Corona Especiale, the Panetela, the Esplendido, the Robusto and the Exquisito. The last 3 ones were added in 1989. The 1992 year was the year of celebrating the 500th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of the Caribbean. In salute to such a great event in world history the Siglo series was introduced.
The "Cohiba" cigars are produced in the El Laguito factory in Havana - the initial place of manufacturing, and also in Germany - in the Fernando Perez factory. |
